Did you hear that?
We had a blast last week listening to some great audio pieces at The Company. Plus...we have plans to share.
Hi friends, it’s me, Ann.
On July 21, we got together at The Company, a sunny space with immaculate vibes, for some good old fashioned listening. Ivan Ruiz-Knott and Madeleine Lebovic shared a very juicy excerpt from an audio doc they’re working on about "hell houses," while Josh discussed a few past pieces he’s produced for Low Orbit on resistance and death. Snacks were had, seltzer was sipped, it was a great time. We’re hosting another one on Sept 8, so pencil us in. Have something you’d like to share? Respond to this email and let me know!
I also wanted to share our schemes for the rest of this year:
- Join us for another meetup at Town Hall on August 18!!!
- The aforementioned Sept 8 listening event. RSVP here to join us again next month at the Company for some sounds and snacks.
- On Oct 9, I’ll be hosting a virtual ColoRadio presentation all about my old podcast On Something. Maybe you didn’t know, but I used to host a little ditty all about weed legalization but also all about a bunch of other things. I’m excited to talk about how the idea came about and to share some of my favorite moments. RSVP here.
- Some changes have already taken place behind the scenes...we've moved our newsletter to Ghost, where we've also built a bit more of a robust website. It's our hope to collect resources here for indie audio makers including a list of recording spaces across Colorado and a directory of Colorado podcasts. Please check these pages out and respond to this email if we're missing anything.
Finally, speaking of recording spaces, I need to gush for a second. Last Friday I got a chance to tour Denver Community Media, which houses a pretty dang impressive offering of studios and rental equipment for a low cost (so long as you become a member). At just $100 per year, the membership is a great deal, and I'm very excited to get into their podcast studio, which has all the bells and whistles you could hope for. They also have TV studios! With a green screen! You could make all kinds of mischief over there....anyways, if you're like me and looking for affordable recording spaces in Denver, definitely check it out.
Until next time. Drink plenty of water!!!
Bestest,
-Ann
